Robert E. Monroe, 88 of Princeton, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. He was born June 22, 1934 in Princeton to Clifford and Minnie (Gilmour) Monroe Younginger.
Robert lived in Princeton all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956. He retired from Whirlpool where he worked for 40 years and later worked at Rural King for about 15 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice (Mason) Monroe of Princeton; children, Ed Monroe (Kelly) of Princeton and Tonya Wells (Tony) of Haubstadt; grandchildren, Stephen Knox (Ramina), Kyle Monroe (Ashley Dyer), Alana Grise (Marlin), Trace Monroe, John and Jesse Ervin; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 half-brothers, Raymond Drew of Princeton and Phillip Monroe of Columbia, South America; several nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Marlene, Karen and Linda.
There will be a funeral service held at the graveside, 11a.m. Friday, September 23, 2022 in the Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton, with Pastor Scott Burr officiating. There will be no public visitation. Burial will follow the services. Graveside services will be provided by the Retired Military Veterans. The Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton is entrusted with the arrangements.
