Robert Lee Smith

Robert Lee Smith, 96, of Princeton, IN passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Oakview Heights in Mt Carmel, IL. He was born January 30, 1930 in Owensville, IN to Max Smith and Grace V. (Montgomery) Smith. Bob graduated from Owensville High School in 1948. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Bob married Rita A. (Farney) Smith July 20, 1973 and was blessed with 30 years of marriage before her passing in 2003. He retired from Emge packing after 47 years of service. Bob worked for NAPA delivering parts after Emge closed. He enjoyed spending time tending his garden, playing guitar, and listening to country and bluegrass music. Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rita Smith; step-daughter, Shannon Douglas; siblings, Carmen Smith, Shirley Smith, Betty Evans, and Evelyn Cater.

Bob is survived by his step-son, Brett Duncan (Kim); son-in-law, Robin Douglas; grandchildren, Jessica Muhs (Michael), Blane Douglas (Ashley), Kassandra Spindler (Logan), and Brittany Goebel (Sam); great-grandchildren, Korbin, Brynn, Blair, Audrey, Callie, Layla, Brooks, and Myleigh.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.

All are welcome to join the family at a graveside service 10 AM Saturday, May 16, 2026 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Princeton, IN with Father Gary Kaiser officiating.
