Rodney Miller Obituary

Rodney R. Miller, Sr., of Oakland City, passed away on February 7, 2020 with his wife by his side. He was 78 years old. Rod was born in Winslow, IN on February 24, 1941. He was delivered by his Uncle “Doc” Miller. His parents were Amel and Bonnie (Camp) Miller. He lived the majority of his adult life in California with his wife Carolyn (Stoops) and two children, Carol and Rocky, until Carolyn’s untimely death in 2001. He became a member of the First Baptist Church as a young boy. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion and enjoyed fishing and going on road trips.

He is survived by his wife, Marna (Briggs) Miller; daughter, Carol Lundgren (Marque); son, Rocky Miller (Laurie); seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Takacs (Debbie) and Dennis Takacs (Holly); and two sisters, Barbara Eaker (Buck) and Susan Keith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amel and Bonnie; wife, Carolyn; two brothers, Howard and Cletis; brother-in-law, David Keith; and nephew, Frank.

Rod loved his country and served in the US Navy for twenty years which included three tours in Vietnam.

He will be greatly missed by those who loved him but we rejoice in the fact that we will see him again one day.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Gene Burkhart officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery in Oatsville. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 13th.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 318 Main St., Suite 219, Evansville IN 47708, www.cancer.org. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
