Rosellyn Potts Obituary

Rosellyn Potts, 80, of Princeton, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023 at North Broward Hospital in Pompano Beach, Florida. She was born March 12, 1942 in Princeton to the late Henry Maurice and Eselwyn (Larson) Phillips. She was a graduate of Hazleton High School. Rosellyn obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University, and while there she was a member of the Purduettes singers and a founding member of the AOTT Sorority.  She then obtained her Master’s and PhD. at Indiana University.   She retired after 33 years as a school teacher, having started her career in Monroe City, then at South Knox and finally in Princeton with the North Gibson School Corporation, where she was the President of the Teachers Association at NGSC for 3 years and also was in charge of hiring for the cafeteria employees.

Rosellyn was a member of Christian Fellowship Church in Evansville and was involved with their mission’s program. She once went on a two-week mission to Haiti, outside of the church. She was proud to have obtained her private pilot’s license and loved gardening and spending time with her family. She was a force and lived life to the fullest. She knew what she wanted out of life and went after it. She was an amazing supporter and cheerleader for her family. She loved to travel, loved antiques, and wanted to be surrounded by her animals at all times, lovingly called Potts Zoo. She will truly be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Rosellyn is survived by her husband of 59 ½ years, Paul Potts; a son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Diana Potts; a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Gary Gardner; 7 grandchildren, Peyton Potts, Lauren Deputy, Hannah Potts, Madeline Gardner, Claire Gardner, Chloe Gardner and Evan Gardner; and 1 great grandson, Leeland Paul Deputy.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am CST Monday, January 30, 2023 at Colvin Funeral Home, 425 N. Main St., Princeton, IN, with Pastor Cliff Herring officiating. Interment will follow at Hazleton Community Cemetery in Hazleton, IN. Visitation will be from 3 until 7 pm CST Sunday, January 29th at the funeral home.

“She loved to wear bright colors, so we ask that you wear bright colors to celebrate her life.”
