Roy Von Brown, 92, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at his home in Evansville with his family by his side. He was born in Browns, Illinois on March 29, 1932 and grew up in Browns, then met his wife, Arminta, in Lyles Station, and they lived together in Evansville. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 and worked at Whirlpool for 40 years. One of his greatest joys in life was being a master woodcarver. He also enjoyed music, singing, and playing his saxophone. Roy was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Evansville and he will be missed beyond measure.
Roy is survived by his children, Anita Brown, Dondi Brown (Wendy), Perdita Brown, Vonia Brown, and Vondi Brown (Kimberly); grandchildren, Carl Jr. Cooper, Davonda Cooper, Donita Cooper, Chelsea Brown, Cameron Brown, Demario Sanders (Bree), McKinley Davis, Kyla Koontz, Jeffre Allen, and Jacob Allen; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Madison; nephew Ricky Marshall Brown; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Roland Brown and Minnie Elizabeth (Toliver) Brown; wife, Arminta Louise (Madison) Brown in April, 2024; an infant son, Roy Von Brown, Jr.; daughter, Zonia Brown Sanders; 5 brothers; and 6 sisters.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to those who helped with Roy's final care.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 25, 2024 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Interment will follow at Sand Hill near Lyles Station in Princeton with full military honors conducted by the Retired Military Veterans. Visiting hours will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
