Born in Princeton on March 8, 1934 to FX and Marie Weist Stoll, both deceased. He was preceded in death by brother Gary and sisters Shirley Robb & Francis Marie Stoll. Roy is survived by brother Joe (Karen) Stoll. Roy married the love of his life, Nancy Ross Carlisle Stoll, on May 29, 1954.
Roy graduated from St. Joseph Elementary School, Princeton High School Class of 1952 and Tulane University of New Orleans. After graduation he served 3 years in the Army as 1st Lieutenant. Upon completion of his military service, Roy worked for Catholic Charities, Yochum & Watson, W & F Realty Real Estate Broker, Vice-President of Gibson County Bank and retired in 2000 from Old National Bank.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, 50 years member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW Auxiliary and most recently inducted into the INDIANA BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME in 2011. Roy played basketball for most of his life-Princeton High School, Tulane University and Army. Roy dedicated his life to coaching and mentoring youth with St. Joseph Basketball, Boys Club, Princeton Little League and Babe Ruth, but his main love was always his family. Roy is most proud of his sons, Tony (Mary) & Matt (Stephanie), grandchildren Allyssa (Lionel), Ryan, Landon, Loren & Luke and great-grandson Garrett. Roy passed down his love of sports to his grandchildren. His favorite past-time was watching his grandchildren participate in sports.
Our family thanks Kindred Hospice – Cathy, Lindsey, Jennifer & Darcy – for the loving care of Roy.
