Russell Meier Obituary

Russell Lee Meier, 89, of Francisco, passed away Friday, September 24 2021 at his home.  He was born September 19, 1932 in Oakland City to Herman and Violet Oleva (Dyson) Meier. 

Russell was retired, having last worked as a custodian at Vigo and LaSalle Elementary Schools in Vincennes. He had worked for 30 years for Goodyear Tire and Rubber, and was a farmer.  He loved farming, antique tractors, horses and also enjoyed woodworking. 

Russell is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty Lou Meier, to whom he married September 6, 1952; 3 children, Stephen Meier (Rebecca) of Newark, IL, Sheree Morgan of Evansville, and Anthony Meier of Francisco; 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Kenneth Meier of Evansville, Dorothy Graper (John) of Princeton and Paul Meier (Leslie) of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Anna Louise Grubb.

A funeral service will be held at the graveside on Friday, October 1st, at 2 p.m. at the Providence Cemetery near Francisco, with Rev. Anisa Evans officiating.  Burial will follow.  There will be no public visitation. Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton has been entrusted with the arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gibson County Animal Services, P.O. Box 474, Princeton, IN 47670.
