Shane A. Hope

Shane A. Hope, 56, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026 after suffering complications from a fall at his home in Vincennes. He was born in Vincennes on August 25, 1970, graduated Princeton High School and in less than a week at age 17, he voluntarily joined the Unites States Marine Corps. During his four years of service, he served in Saudia Arabia during the Gulf War for which he received several honorary medals. Shane never met a stranger and made a positive impact on the lives of many. He used that gift while working as an automotive service writer at Memering Motorplex where he developed close friendships with his very special coworkers and the Memerings. Shane was a natural story teller and loved telling jokes. He was a faithful Atlanta Falcons fan and upon his death he became a cornea and tissue donor as he was always helping others. Most of all, Shane was a loving husband and devoted father who wore his pride on his chest when talking about his son, Gage.

Shane is survived by his wife, Tracy Hope; son, Gage Hope; brother, Justin Hope; mother, Janet Krietenstein (Keith); several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and father-in-law, Joe Maxey (and the late Connie Maxey). He is also survived by his beloved pet, Georgia, who will miss their trips to get ice cream together.

He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Hope.

Shane’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at IU Methodist Hospital for the dedication and compassion shown to him during his seven days in ICU.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM (CST) Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. Interment will follow at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton. Visiting hours will be held from 12 Noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Full military honors will take place by the Retired Military Veterans.
