Shirley Ann Spence, 81, of Oakland City, passed away at her residence in Oakland City on Monday, September 28, 2020. She was born September 28, 1939 in Chesterville, Illinois to the late Cecil Ealy and Gladys Marie (Scott) Turner. She worked as a production worker at Mid-States Rubber for over 20 years. Shirley was a member of the VFW, was an avid penny poker player, and enjoyed playing cards. She was a huge wrestling fan and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Shirley is survived by her son, S. Lee Turner (La Donna) of Princeton; sisters, Lois O’Neal and Edith Fansler; numerous grandchildren; and stepchildren, George Smith, Alan Smith, Sue Beel (Mark), and Debbie Hayes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James Turner; second husband, George Smith; third husband, Cecil Spence; children, Bruce Carroll, Michael Turner, and Glenda Kolb; siblings, Everett Ealy, Donna Bullock, Sandy Wright, and Betty Walker; and a stepson, Danny Smith.
A memorial service will be held in Shirley’s honor at 11:00 AM Friday, October 9, 2020 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Jack Gatson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM until memorial service time, 11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
