Steven Michael Nixon

Born February 20, 1948—Beloved husband to Sandy; devoted son to Jack and Wilma and stepmother Joy; caring stepfather to Jill and Paul and Brian and Michelle and grandfather  to Zachary  and Ava; lifelong friend to cousins Sue Ellen Parker Tretter and Cheri Page and their families; respected and admired English teacher to hundreds of Wood Memorial High School students; lifelong resident of Princeton, Indiana, serving on various city work groups; lifelong member of Hillside United Methodist Church, serving as a member of the choir, pianist, narrator, and lay speaker;  founding member of Hillside's M&M Sunday School class where his wit and knowledge was (usually!) greatly appreciated; accomplished musician and speaker; a brilliant mind that didn't forget much; a master gardener; a cat dad, an energetic and enthusiastic world traveler; an upbeat personality (could be stubborn at times!);  and most of all a kind, loving, generous child of God—a life well-lived and well-loved until Thursday morning, June 13, 2024 when a massive stroke took his life.  Farewell, dear one, we will miss you horribly.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Sunday July 14, 2024, from 3 until 6 p.m. in the lobby of the Hillside United Methodist Church for a celebration of Steve’s life.  There will be a time to visit with the family from 3 until 4 p.m. with a memorial service at 4 p.m. followed by inurnment in the church columbarium, then returning to the church lobby for time of fellowship and sharing stories of Steve’s life, while enjoying light refreshments.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hillside United Methodist Church, 828 Archer Rd., Princeton, IN 47670.  Envelopes will be available at the Church.
