Sue A. Hollen, 88, of Princeton, went home to be with her Lord and loved ones, on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. She was born on July 18, 1936 in Princeton to the late Nova and Marie Newton and was a lifetime area resident. Sue was retired and had formerly worked for Hansen Mfg. Co. and Farm Bureau Insurance both in Princeton. She was a member of the Patoka Methodist Church and the Cherry Grove Homemakers for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Hollen on January 9, 2014, and to whom she had married on October 26, 1958; 3 brothers, Robert Newton, Donald “Ish” Newton and Bill Newton; 2 sisters, Dorothy Jane “Janie” Newton and Lois Hall.
Sue is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Spencer Gaines of Princeton; several nieces and nephews; and she had many friends that were like family to her.
A funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Spencer Gaines and Pastor Ricky Simpson officiating. Visitation will be from 12 until 3 pm on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton.
The family wishes to extend a “Special Thank You” to Deaconess 4th floor ICU staff, Linda E. White Hospice House staff and Transcendent Healthcare of Owensville staff for their care and compassion for Sue during her illness.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Patoka Methodist Church, 104 NE Mill Street, Patoka, IN 47666 or the Linda E. White Hospice House, 611 Harriet Street, Evansville, IN 47710. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
