Virgil L. Mounts, 92, of Patoka passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025 at The Waters of Princeton. He was born April 25, 1932 in Sumner, IL to Jessie A. and Flossie O. (Snyder) Mounts.
Virgil was a retired farmer and worked for the Southern Railroad. He had lived in Gibson County for many years, moving here from Illinois. He enjoyed being outside working on things. In later years, Virgil and his wife, Evelyn, enjoyed going on cruises together.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Evelyn Mounts of Patoka; his daughters, Brenda Witt (Alann) of Princeton, Vicki Lynn Schultheis of Princeton, and Lisa “Diane” Hyneman of Patoka; sisters, Henrietta Bassett, Roberta Walls, Loretta Chapman, and Beulah Briggs; grandchildren, Tiffany Dicus, Andrea Dyehouse, Michelle Birch, Robert “BJ” Schultheis, and Bryan Morrow; and great-grandchildren, Caleb Jacob, Chase, Hunter, Carter, Karlee, Kaylyn, Levi, Gage, and Connor.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; infant great grandson, Adrain Birch; brothers, Jesse and Harold Mounts; sisters, Mary Johnson and Elizabeth Brown; and son-in-law, Terry Hyneman.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2025 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Richard Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbia White Church Cemetery near Princeton. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the service time Friday at the funeral home.
