Virginia A. (Thurby) Gibson

Virginia A. (Thurby) Gibson, 87, of Princeton, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Deaconess Gibson Hospital in Princeton. She was born December 12, 1936 in Henderson County, Kentucky. She had many skill sets and worked at Utley’s Soft Serve, Ellis Park as a dining room hostess, with her husband at Gibson Home Builders, and K-Mart as a pharmacy technician. Virginia was a quilter and liked line dancing and square dancing. She enjoyed getting dolled up and taking care of herself, but she was also known to get her hands in the dirt gardening and being outdoors. Virginia was loved and will be missed deeply.

Virginia is survived by her sons, Jeff (Patty) Gibson, Randy (Cherry) Gibson and Jon (Anita) Gibson all of Princeton; grandchildren, Amy (Tyrone), Amanda, Derek (Dorothy), Matthew, Kristin, Alex (Brittney), Shawn (Paige), and Nick; thirteen great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and 9 siblings.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Franklin Thurby and Anna Elizabeth (Nunn) Thurby; husband, Joe K. Gibson in 2012; and a son, Wayne Gibson in 2009.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Donnie Truelock officiating. Interment will follow at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton. Visiting hours will be from 4 until 8:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home.
