Voris L. Brakmeier, 86, of Princeton, IN passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at home. She was born August 4, 1937 in Gibson County, IN in the Johnson area to parents Lewis and Dorothy (Sharp) Garrett. She was a homemaker, worked at the Gibson County Bank on the Square and finally was a machine operator at Anchor Industries for 29 years. As a very active member of First General Baptist Church in Princeton, Voris helped in the children’s ministry, Vacation Bible School, the bus ministry, served as a Sunday School teacher and went on many missions trips. She took care of people faithfully. Voris worked the election polls, was an avid gardener who loved to can food, and also loved flowers, antiques and sewing.
Voris is survived by her children, Joyce Browning (Tim) of Lakeland, FL, Jodi Luttrull (Kevin) of Princeton, Phil Brakmeier (Christa) of Fort Wayne, and Gary Brakmeier of Princeton; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren with 1 more on the way; and 1 great-great grandchild; siblings Clifton Garrett (Betty), Verneta Coplen, Shirleen Funkhouser; sisters-in-law, Sharon Garrett and Jean Garrett; and several nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Voris was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Anthony Garrett, Randall Garrett and Raymond Gerald Garrett; and sister, Portia Jane Garrett.
A funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the First General Baptist Church located at 2101 E. Broadway St. in Princeton officiated by Pastor Brad Keenan. Burial will follow at Maumee Cemetery in Johnson. Visitation will be from 10 am until noon on Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be donated to the First General Baptist Church Missionary Fund at the church’s address and envelopes will also be available at the church during visitation.
