William M. McConnell, 100, of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022. He was born in Gibson County, Indiana on November 1, 1921 to the late Raymond and Elta McConnell and graduated from Francisco High School in 1939. Bill was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving in North Africa during WW II, a local business owner and active in local government for many years. He served as Princeton City Councilman, Mayor and Gibson County Councilman, often sharing his ideas and opinions as a Letter to the Editor.
Bill was preceded in death by a son, Anthony; grandson, Samuel; wife, Jessie; daughter-in-law, Jan McConnell; brother, Robert “Bob” McConnell; and a daughter, Jane McConnell, OSF.
Surviving are sons, Bill (Charlene), Pat (Carolyn Highhouse); Mike and Joe (Mary) McConnell; grandchildren, Jessica Ross, William McConnell, III, Stacy Hurt, Amanda Parke, Patrick McConnell, Sara Abbey, Jennifer Kolb and Diana Estrada; and numerous great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 S. Race St., Princeton, with Father Gary Kaiser as celebrant. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 pm Monday, June 13th at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton and again from 10 am until the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Princeton.
Military rites will be provided by Retired Military Veterans of Gibson County.
