William “Amon” Tooley, 88, of Oakland City, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the Waters of Princeton. He was born October 22, 1935 in Oakland City to the late Enoch Tooley and Gertrude (Cox) Tooley and obtained his Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. He worked for 32 years as a teacher for 4th and 5th grades at New Whiteland south of Indianapolis. Amon was a member of the First General Baptist Church, the National Education Association, and Indiana State Teachers Association. He was loved and will be missed beyond measure.
Amon is survived by his daughters, Melody Tooley of Princeton and Melinda Sams (David) of Oakland City; grandchildren, Lukas Sams and Owen Sams; sisters-in-law, Marlene Bassett (Terry) of Princeton and Marlane Bryant (Ben) of Princeton; and brother-in-law, David Meier (Donna) of Boonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Hazel Tooley who passed September 6, 2012.
The family will host a memorial service at 2:00 PM (CST) Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Oakland City Church of Nazarene located at 314 S. Jackson St. in Oakland City. Pastors officiating the service will be Dr. Douglas Low and Pastor Darin Nossett.
