William "Bill" Kraay Obituary

William “Bill” L. Kraay, 78, of Winslow, passed away Monday, August 19, 2024 at Brickyard Healthcare in Petersburg. He was born November 1, 1945 in Monticello, IN to Robert and Alice (Hicks) Kraay. A Vietnam veteran, he was proud to have served in the Navy SeaBee Construction Battalion. He was a supervisor at Texas Eastern Pipeline for over 25 years. Bill was known as “Gramps” to his grandchildren which made it hard to find mugs. He took great pride in his yard, loved German Shepherds, watching Westerns, driving the backroads in his truck and fishing for anything that would bite. He was a life member of the American Legion and VFW.

Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen (Gardiner) Kraay; children, Janice Kays (Paul) of Oakland City and David Miller of Lenoir City, TN; grandchildren, Grace and Will Kays of Oakland City; sister, Martha Jane Murdock (Tom); and nieces, Beverly Murdock and Kristy Murdock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert “Bob” Kraay; brother, Robert Kraay; and niece, Kathy Murdock.

A funeral service with Military Honors provided by Retired Military Veterans will be held at 10 am on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City. Visitation will be on Friday evening, August 23rd from 4 until 7 pm at the funeral home. Bill will be laid to rest privately at Forsythe Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to Honor Flight-Indiana Veterans Home, 3851 N River Rd., West Lafayette, IN 47906. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
