William C. Pauley, 90, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025 at RiverOaks Health Campus in Princeton, IN. He was born in Princeton, IN July 23, 1935 to the late Burl and Ida (Johnson) Pauley. He married Sherrlyn Sue Madden on June 20, 1964, wife of 57 years. Bill served in the US Army from 1958 to 1960. When he returned, he immediately went to work for the Princeton telephone company, which became Contel and then GTE, where he retired after 40 years. Bill started as an installer and worked his way up to manager before retiring. He was a member of the Hadi Shriner Temple, Masonic lodge, and United Presbyterian Church of Princeton. Bill was extremely proud to be a part of the Honor Flight of Southern Indiana to honor American’s veterans for all their sacrifices.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wilma Coomer; wife, Sherrlyn Sue Pauley; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Ed Utley; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Mary Madden.
Bill is survived by his nieces and nephews, Dara (Garry) Diel, Sue Utley, Ed Utley, Kurt Madden, Lisa (Dodge) Andis, and Lori (John) Falk; several great and great-great nieces and nephews; two great-great-greats; special friend, Rita Speedy; and many friends.
Visitation will be held 10 AM until service time at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Colvin Funeral Home with pastor Brian Newton officiating. A military graveside burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Honor Flight of Southern Indiana; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
