Wynadyne Michele Miller Abbitt

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Wynadyne Michele Miller Abbitt, affectionately known as Micki, on May 21, 2022.

Michele was born March 13, 1947, in Francisco, Indiana where she spent her childhood until graduating from Francisco High School in 1965. She attended Murray State University in Murray, KY and spent those summers at Glacier Park in Glacier, Montana living out adventure and establishing lifelong friends.

She would find her way back to Gibson County and raise her family in Princeton where she was a lifelong member of the community, the Gibson County Democratic Party and the First United Methodist and Presbyterian Churches until moving to Carmel, Indiana in May of 2020.

Michele loved fiercely and deeply, she was a pioneer of women’s rights, and we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace surrounded by light.

She is survived by her children, Patrick Sean Howard (Angie) and Stephanie Abbitt Sanders (Dr. Brant), grandchildren; USAF 2nd Lt. Connor Howard (Sydney), Alexis Smelley, Mary Frances Smelley, Cooper Howard and Kennedy Howard all of Carmel, Indiana and William, Griffin and Blake Sanders of Evansville, Indiana.

Preceding her in death are her parents Darwin and Patricia Grimm and ex husband Steven M Abbitt.

Private graveside services will be on Wednesday June 1st at Maple Hill Cemetery Princeton, Indiana with a Celebration of Life in her honor for all friends and family to attend from 4 – 8pm at Cambridge Golf Club.

A celebration of her life for friends and family in and around Indianapolis will be on Wednesday June 8th at 6pm at the Club at Chatham Hills Westfield, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers her children are requesting memorial contributions be made to Maple Hill Cemetery PO Box 394 Princeton, Indiana 47670.
