Zelma Phillips Obituary

Zelma Lucille “Chick” Phillips, 100, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at RiverOaks Health Campus in Princeton. She was born in Pike County on September 23, 1925 to the late Roy and Sarah A. (Steele) Loveless. She attended grade school in Pike County and graduated from Mt. Olympus High School Class of 1944. Zelma was the oldest living graduate, married her classmate, Elmer “Pup” Phillips, and they were blessed with twin daughters.

Zelma was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church serving as a former deacon. She enjoyed helping with Bible School and church dinners. Zelma loved sewing, working with flowers, gardening, having family dinners and family reunions, going to Mt. Olympus Alumni banquets, and traveling. She retired from the Health Department and worked for Gibson County for 25 years.

Zelma is survived by her daughters, Diana Fay Kinnaman (Rick) and Donna Kay Zenthoefer; granddaughters, Angie Snodgrass (Craig) and Stacie Obert; grandson, Jason Kinnaman (Jennifer); great-granddaughters, Corinne Elise Kinnaman, Riley Olivia Kinnaman, and Blakelee Ann Obert; great-grandson, Mavrix Allen Obert; and a lot of nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Roy and Sarah Loveless, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Elmer L. Phillips, who passed in 2013; a sister, and a brother.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 25, 2025 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton officiated by Reverend Darin Nossett. Interment will follow at Decker Cemetery in Patoka. Visiting hours will be held from 9 until 11 on Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Colvins, Reverend Nossett, RiverOaks, and AseraCare Hospice for their loving care of Zelma.
